Battersea Power Station
RS6A delivers 203 high-quality affordable homes within the wider Battersea Power Station Masterplan, responding to acute housing demand in the London Borough of Wandsworth. The scheme offers generous dual-aspect homes with framed views across the River Thames and towards the iconic Battersea Power Station.
The architecture adopts a considered, classical language strengthening its connection to its surroundings. The design draws inspiration from the detailing and tonal palette of the Turbine Hall interior, subtly echoing the character of the Power Station.
Landscape is treated as an extension of the architecture: residents are drawn from the threshold and lobby into a private ground floor garden, while maintaining a continuous relationship with the outdoors. At roof level, a shared residents’ garden with expansive views across Nine Elms, provides a communal retreat above the city.
RS6A is conceived as a mediator between Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms, bridging masterplans through form, scale, and use, all while delivering much-needed affordable housing to the area.
The façade is articulated through a clear hierarchy of base, middle, and top, introducing depth, shadow and rhythm across the elevations.
Community uses are embedded within a permeable podium, activating the street and supporting everyday life within the wider emerging neighbourhood.
