The soft colour palette and restrained classical fixtures that echo the external facade allow the contemporary response to take on a minimal timeless feel. Warm timber joinery elevates the subtle play adding depth and calm to the space, allowing the clean linear plan showcasing natural daylight to be the standout feature of the space.
A more playful design response manifests itself in the basement end of journey experience with a punchy green application of graphics and paint. This minimal intervention was as impactful as it was cost effective.
Throughout the retrofit there has been a significant upgrade to the environmental performance of the heritage building. Including the addition of PVs to the roof, air source heat pumps, and LED lighting. These upgrades allow the building to target an EPC A rating. Furthermore the addition of ‘End of Trip’ facilities in the basement including showers, changing rooms, drying room and cycle parking will encourage users to commute in more environmentally responsible ways.
