Woodcock Hill
This project delivers six new industrial units within the established Woodcock Hill Industrial Estate. The scheme makes use of previously underutilised land, providing flexible spaces for local businesses and strengthening the estate’s role as a hub for light industry in the area.
The buildings are arranged in three smaller blocks, rather than a single large structure. This approach improves circulation for vehicles and pedestrians, allows each unit to operate independently, and keeps the overall scale in line with surrounding buildings. The simple, pitched forms and restrained material palette reflect the existing character of the estate, ensuring the new development sits comfortably within its context.
Landscape is treated thoughtfully, with existing trees retained wherever possible and new planting added to enhance the site’s edges and support biodiversity. The design also considers the wider environment, creating a quieter, more welcoming space around the units while maintaining practical access for vehicles and deliveries.
Sustainability is at the heart of the project. Passive measures such as natural ventilation and daylighting are combined with solar panels and low-carbon heating systems, helping to reduce energy use and support a more environmentally responsible development.
Overall, the proposal balances function, flexibility and environmental care. It strengthens the estate as a place for local business, while integrating sensitively with its surroundings and making efficient use of land that was previously underuse
